The Things Kids Say

Or at least a 4 year old

Lawson spent a few days with us last week. When I picked him up in Parrish ( Dave met me half way) he was talking full force. One thing was so cute. You may or may not know that Lawson was born with a peanut allergy. We all have epi pens because of the allergy. But, what I did not know was that you could out grow a peanut allergy and Lawson was declared peanut allergy free back at the first of the year ( he still has other food allergies). Well, as we were driving back to Berry.......Lawson says.....MeMe, you need to taste a Reeses Cup. They are so good! They have chocolate on the outside and peanut butter in the middle. It makes you think about how we just take things for granted.

In a few minutes.......MeMe, I brought my "snerkel" with me. You put it in your mouth and breathe in and out while you are in the water.

and a little further down the road.....MeMe, is it a bad word to say " get your nosy nose out of here"?

and a little further down the road..... ( we call our little car the "Obama" because we got a special deal on it that Obama put into motion)......MeMe, I am glad you came to get me in the "Old Mama"!

Memorial Day 2011

It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who died in defense of our country in wars far away. The imagination plays a trick. We see these soldiers in our mind as old and wise. We see them as something like the Founding Fathers, grave and gray-haired. But, most of them were boys when they died, They gave up two lives - the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for their country, for us. All we can do is remember.

Happy Birthday to a Dear Friend

Happy Birthday Sue

Somehow Sue manages to stay out of all of my pictures. I am beginning to think she does it on purpose. So, as usual to celebrate her birthday I will use pictures of our kids.

John, Brady, Phillip and Josh at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. Alabama lost but we had a great time. I think this is 1989 but not sure.Phillip was like Courtney's 3rd brother. She looks like she's not too sure in this picture. This picture was made at Orange Beach, December 31, 1999 at about 11:55 PM.
Okay, this is much better.....Phillip's after rehearsal dinner....on the beach in Malibu, California at The Yellow Umbrella. 2002

Tuscaloosa, Alabama before a ball game. Brady, Kim, Rachel, Phillip, Courtney and Dave.

Love you and hope you enjoyed the pictures, Sue!

Big Fish

We took Lawson to fish at Richie and Jill's pond. I remember the day ( in fact it was the day of Courtney's Baby Tea at Jill's house) that I wasn't too sure that this pond would ever make (dry weather)! Well, it did and it is a great pond. Kate came and joined Lawson when she got home from school. Now, Kate is the voice of fishing experience and Lawson was so impressed. He asked several times, that night, when he would be able to fish like Kate.

Looks like Lawson is already working on a tall fish tale!

What do cousins do?

They sit on the top bunk of JB3's bed and watch cartoonsand....you hold onto your toes (if you are a lot shorter than your big cousin) so you can stay sitting up
You think your big cousin is funny (and wonderful)

Your big cousin falls back when you do just to make you feel better ( aren't cousins great)

Your Big cousin tells you about .............

A cousin will also tell you where the Oreo cookies are hidden

Tuesdays with MeMe

This past Tuesday was an unusual day. All 3 kids were home. Abby takes guitar at the UA School of Music and won't have lessons until school starts back and JB3 was not going to Karate that day. So, they had a snack and started playing. The girls have never had a problem with coming up with something to play. Tuesday, is was "beauty shop".

First things first.......Abby Claire is a great speller. I usually go over her spelling and vocabulary words with her on Tuesday afternoons. She never misspells any words. To understand this sign that was on her bedroom door, and that I thought was so funny, you have to know that Abby likes to talk with a British accent and she is good at that too!
The beauty shop waiting area took over Kim's office.

Clients

I am thinking maybe.....Emma and Abby

ummm.......JB3

what do you think......Kim

I guess they were backed up because they were having trouble making "MeMe" look decent!

Disney Trip

I finally have up my pictures from our Disney World Trip. You can tell I take a lot of pictures and there really isn't a lot to be said since the pictures tell the story.

*********Oh, yes, I forgot the most important thing*********

The space shuttle was to launch the Tuesday we were in Orlando. I was so excited. I would get to see a shuttle launch and get to celebrate a grandchild's birthday. It was meant to be.

NOT!!!!!!

The launch was scrubbed. Does that surprise anybody?

Oh, well!

Micanopy, Florida

John and I decided to stop at Micanopy, Florida on the trip down to Disney World. We discovered this little town 10 years ago on the trip to Orlando to bring home Courtney's furniture after her internship.

If you remember the movie Doc Holliday, this is the town where it was filmed. I would say that it has gone downhill a little but still a great spot to stop and stretch your legs. It is about a mile off the interstate. The beautiful two story house is a bed and breakfast. The town has all kinds of antique stores and a couple of really quaint little cafes. Life seems to slow down after you walk a few minutes in this town!

The Little Traveler

Saturday morning we picked up Courtney, Dave and Lawson from the Orlando International Airport. He is such a seasoned traveler. It's a good thing because I plan on traveling even when I have to be pushed around and turn around IS fair play!

2011 Magic Kingdom

We started our first day in The Magic Kingdom by going to see if Lawson was finally tall enough to ride Splash Mountain. He was....woo hoo! He rode Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain over and over. We would get fast passes and two of us would not ride so that he could keep riding! The child has an adventurous streak but he also has a touch of his Mother's motion sickness. When it would start to get to him we would take him to a little kid's ride and the minute he felt better he would beg to go ride "mountains" again. The funny thing is that these fast moving, dipping churning rides did not scare him at all but Snow White petrifies him.
